Reading, Phonics and Handwriting
As a school we follow the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Program and the associated texts from Collins Big Cat.
A series of Core Texts, which are relevant to the arc of our curriculum, are carefully mapped across our Curriculum Long Term Plan. When considering texts we consider the interests of our children, the sticky knowledge that runs through our wider curriculum, new and exciting authors and those books that convey an important message.
Our school libraries are busy and active hubs and are replenished often. Each class visits the school library on a regular basis and children have access to a wide variety of books.
We read to children every day at the Federation and ensure that children read for pleasure every day.
We use the Letter Join handwriting scheme and it's associated resources to teach the essentials of handwriting across the Federation.
