Through Faith and Nurture we Thrive.

'Life in all its fullness.' John 10:10

Our School Values are:

Be Loving | Be Respectful | Be Responsible | Be Positive | Be You

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to become confident, happy citizens.

In the Bible, John 10 vs 10 tell us that Jesus said 'I have come that they may have life in all its fullness'.  Life in all its fullness is about living a varied and full life full of learning, growing, helping, reward, joy, responsibility, excitement and caring for each other. At school we aim to help each other to learn how to do this.  It is not always easy to live life in this way and so we help each other with the challenges that come along the way.  As a Church of England School, we also look to Jesus to help and guide us.

The Farewell Discourse in John (chapter 13-17) theologically underpins all our school values.  In the Discourse, Christ commands His disciples to the Discourse, Christ commands His disciples to imitate His loving example in order to flourish and 'bear fruit'.

At the Federation of Farnham and Rickling Primary Schools, we recognise that we flourish in much the same way - by taking our cue from Christ's character, and placing His love at the heart of our community ethos.  The 'fruit' of this love are all our other school values - respect, responsibility, positivity and the valuing of our own unique gifts.

'Life in all its fullness' is grounded in Christ's love and is what happens when these values are lived out with commitment.

Special Spaces

We are part of God's world and always look to love it as God does and appreciate it.  We are fortunate to have wonderful outdoor spaces at both schools in our Federation and whenever we can, our learning is taken outside. We all love to explore our school grounds, especially our new outdoor science area and visiting our school chickens.

We are very proud of our Prayer Tables in the classroom and we now are in the process of creating outdoor prayer trees at both schools. Children and adults will be able to visit these to pray, reflect, think, wish or dream.  Our Courageous Advocates take an active role in advocating for better care for our planet.  Outdoor learning is also extended through making the most of the beautiful villages that both schools are in.

Spirituality

At our Federation, we want our spiritually developed children to love and accept themselves and enjoy good relationships with each other. We provide opportunities for them to take an interest and delight in the world around them and are open to what lies beyond the material (this may manifest itself in faith/belief in God). Children are always encouraged to express and understand feelings, as well as respect those of others. Through living out our vision and values, children have a strong moral sense and a love of what is good. They are able to enjoy quiet and stillness, they possess an active imagination, and show joy in creativity and discovering new skills.

Religious Education

Religious Education forms the heart of our learning at The Federation of Farnham and Rickling. We believe that Religious Education should promote inquiry, discovery and discussion. We follow Discovery RE, the new Essex Syllabus and Understanding Christianity and also include materials from the Saffron Hub RE resources.  We are very proud of our Prayer Tables and welcome you to visit our classrooms to see our learning in action.
